Subscribe To If ye are prepared. Tuesday, January 3, 2012. For example, if you have been a carpenter in the construction industry, you may have believed that there would never come a time when you could not get a job. Maybe while you still had a job, you should have studied or taken classes to obtain some other types of skills that could be used to find employment in the event of a downturn in construction such as one during the past few years. Subscribe To If ye are prepared. Tuesday, July 21, 2009. Living within your means. Once you know what it costs to live, you can start making adjustments to your spending based on realistic. Evaluations of your actual needs. Do you really need the air conditioning set to 72 degrees in the summer? Do you really need to buy a case of water every week? Could you save money by buying a different car? Do you really need to eat out two or three times a week? By observation, I would say quite a few. Unless and u...

If ye are prepared ye shall not fear...: Out of work or unemployable?
http://ifyeareprepared.blogspot.com/2012/01/out-of-work-or-unemployable.html
Subscribe To If ye are prepared. Monday, January 2, 2012. Out of work or unemployable? Perhaps this lady on the radio was employed in a job that no longer exists or maybe her whole type of work is no longer part of our economy? If there are jobs openings that go begging, why are there long term unemployed? Issued by Fitch Ratings Tuesday afternoon.". It would be interesting to know what skills the radio lady had and what she had done to improve her skills while she was gainfully employed. Youre making a ...

Hamjambo!: Our Apartment
http://patiencedaren.blogspot.com/2010/06/our-apartment.html
Patience Daren, we're in Africa. Saturday, June 12, 2010. As promised (a long long time ago) here's what we've done with our apartment. First, this is the reason we relented to take an apartment without running water (we have it delivered in six 20 liter jerry cans every few days ). This isn't quite the full panorama, but its a nice sample of our view over the water. The Table is made from tree halves instead of planks. Our favorite wall hanging from Lamu - its the one in the office. Stove, fridge, fruit.

Hamjambo!: April 2010

Patience Daren, we're in Africa. Monday, April 19, 2010. Man Eaters and Friends. But when one rolls around in red dust to keep the flies and ticks, even the dull grey of an elephant hide gets a nice dusty sheen of rust. See for yourself. Okay, so these aren't the reddest elephants we saw, but they are the best pictures of elephants we took; we had to have seen close to 60 elephants in about 25 different groups (including individual bulls). Now about those man-eaters. Tons of these tall blondes about.

http://patiencedaren.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html
Patience Daren, we're in Africa. Monday, November 30, 2009. Ignore the toilet paper. That's not what we're going to talk about to today. You're looking at Sunday's meal because it was only after our housemate. Layla started taking pictures and saying how it was the perfect time of day for doing so that we remembered we had a camera too. (If not for housemates you'd never see pics on here.) So. leaving me to roll out the chapati, Patience ran up to get the camera and. Put some flour in a bowl. Roll flat a...

We keep promising them that we'll join them in their fast during the last week. but now that the last week has arrived we're feeling a little less committal. 14 hours of fasting seems light compared to the 24 hour fast we just finished today, but who wants to wake up at 4:30am for breakfast? Burning Bushes and Blackberries: July 2013
http://burning-bushes-and-blackberries.blogspot.com/2013_07_01_archive.html
Burning Bushes and Blackberries. Sunday, July 7, 2013. Some random June and July events. We enjoyed Father's Day, Kirk's birthday and the 4th of July. Andrew made a card and a treat for Kirk. Edward made a card for Kirk and drew things he liked inside it. Kirk celebrated his birthday. I made a chocolate cake with white chocolate-cream cheese frosting, raspberry filling, and a chocolate glaze over it all. It tasted good. We also ate blueberry pie and ice cream,. Burning Bushes and Blackberries: May 2013
http://burning-bushes-and-blackberries.blogspot.com/2013_05_01_archive.html
Burning Bushes and Blackberries. Sunday, May 12, 2013. This past week was Lucy's birthday. She is a wonderful little girl. I made a princess doll cake for her. This one turned out nicely, but it took forever to decorate. Lucy's main present was my old doll crib that Kirk put together for her. I made some new sheets and stuff for it so maybe she wouldn't mind having hand-me-downs for presents all the time. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Earth's crammed with heaven,. And every common bush afire with God:.
